Author Interview: Lynn Rush

 Lynn Rush Interview

Interview with Lynn Rush author of the exciting new vampire series Violet Midnight (Goodreads) I'm super excited today to have Lynn here to answer a few question ok maybe a bunch of fun questions. Don't forget to check out my review of Violet Midnight (here).

Mandy - Where did you get the inspiration for Violet Midnight?
Lynn - Most of the time story ideas just hit me, and it doesn't appear to have any rhyme or reason. Violet Midnight started out like that, but now that I look back on the whole thing, it was the fourth book I’d ever written. I was ready to move forward, jump feet first into this whole writing thing—But I was scared. Unsure. Emma’s a little like that. She woke up with a tattoo that glowed in the presence of evil. She had no clue how to handle that. No fighting skills. No knowledge about anything. So, she learned by “On the job training.” At that time, I was experiencing much the same thing. I didn't realize it while I was writing the story, though. Only when I looked back at life events.

Mandy - Do you see yourself in any of your characters? If so which one?
Lynn - Mostly in Emma. Started out unsure, scared, and clueless. But as she grew, she stepped into her confidence more and more. I can see that about myself as I evolve as an author.

Mandy - Did you always know you wanted to be a writer?
Lynn - Nope! Never even dreamed I’d be doing this. Never grew up wanting to be a writer, wasn't on the school newspaper or year book…heck, I didn't even really enjoy reading much. But it’s funny where life takes you. I’m glad I’m on this path, though. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

Mandy - If you had to be a character in a book, who would you be a why?
Lynn - Lots of great books to choose from, but I’d have to say Emma. She can kick some serious butt. I’d love to be as tough as her. It took her a lot of hard work and I admire that, so I’d say her. Now, from a book that isn’t mine…I’d say Joanna Archer from Vicki Pettersson’s Signs of the Zodiac series. Love that chick. She’s awesome! Strong, determined and loyal. Love that!

Mandy - What kind of atmosphere do you prefer when you write?
Lynn - Love me some music playing in the background while I’m sitting on my patio. That’s the best. Even better, when my citrus trees are blooming…YUM!!

Mandy - Who’s your favorite cartoon character?
Lynn - Wonder Woman. She’s awesome.

Mandy - Do you have a favorite gadget?
Lynn - My iPhone. Love that thing!

Mandy - Do you have a favorite ice cream?
Lynn - Chocolate. Even better if there’s Snicker’s on top!!

Mandy - What are 5 items you never leave home without?
Lynn - iPhone, Chapstick, Kindle, business cards, and….money.

Mandy - Have you started on the next book in Emma’s story?
Lynn - Oh yes. All three have been written for a long time. We’re in the editing phase.

Mandy - Anything you want to say to your readers?
Lynn - Thank you all for your support. I hope you like Emma and Jake’s story. J And remember to spread the word because a portion of the proceeds from all of my books goes toward cancer research and treatment.

Thank you so much for being here today it's been a pleasure getting a chance to interview. I also loved your book Violet Midnight and can't wait till I can read the next one.
