Synopsis

When Lexie Anderson’s mother suddenly announces she is marrying a Romanian immigrant, Lexie willingly leaves behind her busy life in Connecticut for her penance in “The Moose Capital of the World.” Small town living is strange enough, now Lexie must cope with her overbearing stepfamily monitoring her every move. They disappear into the woods at night and keep a strange secret locked in their shed. Her once calm mother is now having violent outbursts and Lexie’s little sister is hearing sinister sounds coming from the forest behind their new home. Lexie’s biggest surprise comes when she discovers the boy she has been dreaming about since her accident is living in Maine. Despite Torin’s questionable reputation, Lexie cannot resist the physical and emotional attraction pulsating between them. Animals and people in town are turning up dead and Lexie learns the strange new world she lives in has real life monsters. Just when she decides she wants to be with Torin forever, she must fight to protect her mother and sister from being harmed by a formidable evil.

Opening Teaser

Lexie ran with a confidence only found in dreams. She propelled her body through a lush forest that was full of rich colors and intoxicating scents. She knew where the trail would take her and smiled knowing she would see him again. As she rounded the corner of the worn trail, he stood there motionless. Surprise once again filled those intense blue eyes of his. She could never see his whole face, but his eyes always captivated her, drawing her in. Wrapping her arms around him, she breathed in his heady scent. His arms encircled her and she hoped the moment would last, that she could will herself to stay long enough this time to hear the sound of his voice wash over her. There was so much to say, but the sudden vile presence of death crawled up from behind her as her words turned into a scream….

Lexie reached out and felt the cool space next to her on the bed. As always, she was alone. The images were so real. As much as the ending always terrified her, she could almost smell his pleasing scent on her pajamas and feel his touch. Most of her dreams were easily forgotten, but not when she dreamt of him. She had been having the same one, with a few slight variations for months. Even while lost in slumber, she always recognized him and hoped for a different outcome, but it never happened. Of all mornings, she wished it had a happy ending.

Review

I received Fate Fixed as part of the tour hosted by SupaGurl Book Tours in return for an honest review. Lexie lives every day with the guilt that she caused her father’s death taking him away from her mother and sister.  When her mom elopes to marry a Romanian man with three teenage boys Lexie does her best to make her mom happy even if it means giving up everything she’s known to move to Maine where they can all live together. Since her father’s death Lexie has been having dreams about a strange guy who she feels connected to. It’s when they move to Maine that everything changes, her mother is sick, her step brothers are over protective and now her dream guy is real.

Torin has a secret he’s not quiet human, his dream girl will one date be his fate mate, but he’s afraid he won’t make it to that point as the change gets closer. He’s ready to run should the thirst overtake him to save his family, but then Lexis shows up in town changing everything he planned. However Lexis isn’t the only new one in town, a beast is out hunting creatures in the forest, even killing a few humans. The Elders are looking into the creature that is causing havoc across the area and he has his sights on Lexie. As the relationship connection between the two grows, Lexie has her plate full with her own problems at home. Her mother is sick and taking it out on Lexie, with the threat of the forest and the news about Torin will Lexie be able to keep it together.

I love Fate Fixed. It’s a unique vampire love story that stole a piece of my heart right from the start. The concept behind the Erris Coven is unique and entertaining I really loved the creativity that went into making the vampires unlike anything I’ve read before. I found Fate Fixed well written and captivating from the start I had such a hard time putting it down I actually finished it in one sitting. Even though the werewolves aren’t the good guys like in twilight they make a great bad guy for the story. Lexie and Torin are perfect for each her yin to his yang in essence. Fate Fixed is one of those books teens will enjoy as well as adults. Overall one of the best vampire romance book’s I’ve read this year. I’m super lucky to have the second one ready to read which I will be starting momentarily otherwise I’d be going crazy after reading the teaser at the end of this book. I can’t wait to read the next one and thankfully I don’t have to wait. The series reminds me of the Argeneau by Lynsay Sands only more of a young adult theme but each book is about one of the Erris Coven which I really like. I can see myself re-reading this series again.

Having grown up in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, Bonnie discovered her love of writing early on, but did not begin writing novels until May 2011. As the daughter of author, Glen William Ruane, storytelling and world building is a family affair. Bonnie’s daughter, Miranda E. L. Wheeler and son, Robert D.
