Synopsis
Rayla Tate’s life is about to turn vertical…again. As if it wasn’t bad enough her mother disappeared under questionable circumstances leaving Rayla to be raised by her aunt in a horrendously small town. Her overprotective guardian is determined to ruin Rayla’s life. She refuses to let Rayla out of her sight or out of the state. Provincial living might be what her aunt demands of her purposely sheltered niece; but, Rayla has other ideas. In a desperate attempt to follow her dreams she flees the safety of her home and runs away to college with her best friend toward a bright future in the art world.
However, excitement over her newfound freedom turns into terror when she is chased by a mysterious stranger on her way to school. When his motorcycle suddenly morphs into a fire-breathing pegasus, Rayla questions her sanity. Worse, the man riding next to her stirs a burning desire in her soul she has never known or could have ever imagined. Review
I received Five for review in return for a honest review as part of the tour hosted by Supagurl Book Tours. Rayla Tate’s life has been spent taking care of her
cousins while her aunt is at work. Her aunt Grace has been pushing her to join
her at the pig farm which is out of the question. When the question of
attending college comes up her Aunt Grace is quick to shut down any thought s
Rayla has of leaving. With the help of
her best friend Cassie they plan to leave sneak away to attend college at St.
Mary’s far away from Utah as she can get. Rayla is desperate to leave her
boring life behind and experience everything she’s missed out on as well as
follow her dreams.
The journey alone from Utah to Indian is anything but
boring when Rayla is stalked along the dark highway while Cassie sleeps by a
rider on a motorcycle that when it is next to the window she sees a black
winged horse. The biker heads off ahead when Cassie wakes up she disputes that
she saw anything least of all a winged horse. The girls arrive at school
excited to start their new lives, when Rayla call’s her Aunt Grace to tell her
the truth she learns that she’s an elemental and fey lords will be hunting for
her now that she’s left the protection of her Aunt.
Between being stalked by a stranger in the forest and
avoiding the four lords that are seeking her out she’s always met a nice normal
guy Zach with whom she’s started to connect with. Yet her relationship with
Cassie is strained as she’s jealous that Rayla has all the attention. Rayla has
enough on her place without the added order to worry about, plus she learns her
room is haunted and that Cassie has been to fairy and is seeing things again.
An evil princess is out to claim Rayla for her own, the order is chasing her
down and the lords are attempting to take her. Will she survive the bonding or
will she be bound to a lord she doesn’t love.
Five is a fast paced story that draws you in right from
the start it can be a little overwhelming but you just need to go with it
because it will clear up as you progress. I like the concept of the elemental
bonding with the lord but I didn’t care that it’s forced but it makes sense.
Five reminds me of Merry Gentry with all her handsome fey men, but it’s a clean
story. I found the story-line flows smoothly I did start a little overwhelming
but that’s because of so much back story. Five is a clean story anyone from
teen to adult should find the story entertaining. I tend to avoid love
triangles if I can because I always feel bad for the one that’s left out,
however I found this one is well written more tasteful you could say. My other
complaint is it’s a huge cliffhanger thankfully book two is out or I’d be going
crazy. I really enjoyed the story, the concept was exciting and I’ve always
love book that involve the fey plus with the great characters it’s a must read
for everyone who’s into the fey. Can’t wait to get my hands on the next one to
find out what happens next.
